The 2021 Hyundai Kona has lots of standard tech. Safety-wise, every 2021 Kona has forward collision warning, lane keep assist, driver drowsiness monitoring, and a rearview camera. Available upgrades include blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic, adaptive cruise control, rear parking sensors, pedestrian detection, and a heads-up display. On the connectivity side of things, each 2021 Kona has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, two USB ports, and a 7-inch touchscreen. Integrated navigation, wireless device charging, satellite radio, an eight-speaker Infinity premium audio system, and an 8-inch touchscreen are available on higher trims, among other features.
The 2021 Kona comes with one of two engines. The SE, SEL, and SEL Plus models have a 2.0-liter four-cylinder and a six-speed automatic. The engine pumps out 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. FWD models with the base engine are rated at 27/33/30 mpg, while AWD models get 26/30/28 mpg. A 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder is found on the Night, Limited, and Ultimate trims. The turbo-four puts out 175 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque and is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. FWD models with the turbo-four get 28/32/30 mpg and AWD models get 26/29/27 mpg.
Introducing the new blacked-out Kona trim: Night. It sports black exterior paint, 18-inch RAYS semi-gloss black alloy wheels, black cloth upholstery, a black headliner, and other minor black exterior and interior styling elements. Standard LED headlights and taillights tie the look together. It also has aluminum-alloy sports pedals. The trim is expected to make its way to market in late-2020/early-2021.
