When it comes to affordable new vehicles, they often wind up as “econoboxes,” or vehicles that cut out most non-essential features. While some people don’t mind that, for many of us, it can leave a sour taste in our mouths. Why does an affordable option have to be so barebones? Well, Hyundai has the solution.
If you’ve been looking for a subcompact crossover that doesn’t break the bank, but still has plenty of features to make it worthwhile, then you’re in luck. Let us introduce you to the 2020 Hyundai Venue that starts at just $17,350.
The 2020 Hyundai Venue focuses on efficiency. Under the hood, you’ll find a 1.6-liter four-cylinder. It pumps out 121 horsepower and 113 lb-ft of torque. The entry-level SE comes standard with a six-speed manual, but can be upgraded to a CVT. All other trims only come with a CVT. The manual transmission is rated at 27/35/30 mpg, while the CVT option is estimated at 30/34/32 mpg. Those numbers are higher than average for the segment. Every 2020 Venue model is FWD.
Despite its low price, even the baseline Venue has a lot to offer. It features an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, Bluetooth capability, HD radio, a USB charging and input port, and a four-speaker stereo system. Additional features include automatic climate control, a sunroof, heated front seats, push-button start, satellite radio, integrated navigation, and synthetic leather upholstery. A six-speaker audio system and an additional USB port are also available.
Each 2020 Venue comes with forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, driver attention monitoring, and a rearview camera. Available safety features include Drive Mode Select with three different terrain settings and blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
